It’s Love Box time!
Everyone likes to hear why they are loved and appreciated, right? And philosophically, everyday should be Valentine’s Day…so we’re stretching out the reason for the season for 2 weeks at our house. We’re setting up a “love box” right in the middle of our island. A LOVEly writing activity to practice sharing our affection for our family of five. Kids (and adults) actually need practice expressing their emotions and finding ways to celebrate one another.
It’s easy and frugal! We used an empty tissue container and added some paint courtesy of three happy painters. A teachable moment to practice teamwork for design and application.
You could use any valentine box design, shoebox, cereal box, or a plastic container..or skip the painting and use a vase or pile the folded notes on a pretty plate.
To make it special (and easy for all) I printed and cut these “love note” starters. I’ll share them with you too! CLICK HERE for an easy print out for the “I love you because” slips.
Fold it up. Don’t forget to put the name or initials of who you are writing it to since we’re putting them all together in one big Love Box! Collect LOVE NOTES from now until Valentine’s Day! I think we’ll have our big LOVE reveal after dinner, before dessert! We’ll take turns pulling out a love note and reading it aloud. And we’ll oooohhh and ahhhhhh. There will be roses and fireworks and helicopters take us to tropical islands…no, that’s a different show. We will mostly laugh and eat dessert. But everyone will feel special, and we’ll thank God for that;)
Parent Trick: I will do a sneak count a few days before the reveal to make sure the kids are about even. Doesn’t have to be perfect, but I don’t want anyone to feel less loved.
Here’s your love note!
If you are reading this you are either an old friend or a new friend and you are a special part of my day!
Happy Valentining! Shelisa
