Cheap + Unbreakable + Fine Motor + Pretty= perfect ornament project for your students or children. Gather up pretty paper, scissors, and pencils. I made a station for each child. I bought these plastic ornaments at Michael’s for 50 cents! Best part, other than it being cheap and unbreakable, is that you can’t mess it up. Let the kids cut the paper in small strips and then curl it up using a pencil or fingers. Try different widths and lengths. Use funky scissors or even tear the paper. If you have a little one, precut the paper, and give them a guiding hand. Stuff your rolled or smushed paper in the ornament. Fill to the top. Ohhh and Ahhh!
And, my kids wanted to save their fortunes from their fortune cookies the past few years. We started a fortune jar, but I couldn’t resist.
It has me wondering….what else could we stuff these with at Christmas or even other times of the year just for fun? Christmas words? Bible verses? Prayers? Spelling list of the week? Math Sentences? Colors or Shapes? Alphabet Ornament? Music sheet paper for the Music Teacher? Your child’s name written on different paper (handwriting practice!) ? Easter Prints? Or instead of an ornament, maybe just a cool glass jar or vase?
