Akeelah uses rhythm and movement as one way to help her spell. This may be an idea to try with your child for studying their spelling lists. Try the jumprope or hula hoop. Give them a pair of drumsticks or wooden spoons. Put on tap shoes. Dribble a basketball. Hit a balloon in the air with each letter. Make up a cheer or dance. Get jiggy with it!
