2 year old + trains = happy…this theme was a no brainer! Plus he was obsessed with the Choo Choo Soul Girl. We added a train conductor outfit to our dress up area and a train set to our toys. I suppose we could have just stopped there;) Instead of a huge train party (I can see the “C’Mon Ride the Train Congo Line now), we opted for an actual train ride!
Activities: Train coloring (seen above) The top train was his “official” invitation, which means I scanned and emailed one to his family as a birthday announcement–3rd kid syndrome was kicking in. Not shown are books, train shows, making alphabet trains, painting with toy trains (dip the wheels in paint and roll on paper) and of course trips to the bookstore to play with the train table. As I write this I wonder what kind of youtube clips and apps we could have thrown in the mix.
We sent the birthday boy to meet the conductor and listen to inquisitive Poppie’s train questions.
Note: Some kids don’t like trains. Some kids hate trains. Some kids despise trains.
We wrapped up our day building a train cake. Some kids who hate real trains love chocolate ones with icing, cookies, and candy.
And with that, this mama train went to bed. –Shelisa
